I love the simplicity of monochromatic cross stitch designs, especially for Halloween. I also have a soft spot for smalls since they’re quick and satisfying to make. This set of 4, beginner-friendly patterns is both single-coloured and meant to be finished as little pillows. I stuffed the 2 largest ones with wool to be displayed as decor and the smallest 2 with walnut shells for pin cushions. How you finish is up to you. You can frame them individually, or stitch them all on one fabric and display as a larger piece. Thread colour is also your call, and since deep red might not be your thing, I’ve offered up alternatives that work well for the theme such as the fun glow-in-the-dark version shown in the final image.

This printable PDF download includes:

  • A complete list of materials needed to stitch this project, as well as a colour key and suggested options.
  • 4 single page patterns in colour symbols
  • How-to cross stitch instructions with alternative material suggestions and tips on buying used.
  • Instructions for finishing as pillows and pincushions.
