'Yellow Ruffled' is a really attractive, deeply pleated open-pollinated heirloom variety with a nice sweet, slightly mild flavour. Cut open the 2-3" sized fruit, scoop out the flesh, and stuff with a fresh salad, or bake in the oven with a grain (i.e. rice, quinoa, millet), veggies, and/or minced meat. I've found this to be a very prolific and reliable producer through all types of seasons, but it really comes into its own in a hot summer.
This plant will grow into quite a large vine. I recommend growing in the ground or a raised bed and trellising to keep the plant up off of the soil.
Special Notes: Indeterminate. Yellow, pleated fruit. Hollow cavity with juicy flesh inside. Open-pollinated. Mid-season. 80 days. Grows into a monster plant with lots of heavy fruit so be sure to stake well. No less than 20 seed per packet. Grown and harvested in the 2018 gardening season.
Seed Starting and Growing: Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
About You Grow Girl Seeds:
All of the seeds that I sell were lovingly homegrown and harvested by me, small scale, in my urban garden using organic methods only -- no chemicals or pesticides whatsoever. Tomato varieties are isolated to stay true using the flower bagging method and I test for germination quality. I take special care in choosing varieties that I find unusual, interesting and fabulous, and/or especially suitable for growing in small space gardens.
