'Broad Ripple Yellow Currant' is a vigorous indeterminate plant that produces hoards of the cutest little, semi-transparent, golden yellow, cherry tomatoes. The fruit is low-acid, yet yummy sweet and juicy.
I originally grew this American heirloom variety well over a decade ago due to its dramatic backstory. While the variety hails back to the 1900s, it was rediscovered growing in a sidewalk crack in 1980s urban Indiana. That really says something about how easy it is to grow this prolific producer. Plants that can self-sustain from the impoverished soil of a sidewalk crack are resilient, to say the least!
Seed Starting and Growing: Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
About You Grow Girl Seeds:
All of the seeds that I sell were lovingly homegrown and harvested by me, small scale, in my urban garden using organic methods only -- no chemicals or pesticides whatsoever. Tomato varieties are isolated to stay true using the flower bagging method and I test for germination quality. I take special care in choosing varieties that I find unusual, interesting and fabulous, and/or especially suitable for growing in small space gardens.
